territorio chileno se encuentra al sur oeste de América
del Sur, entre los meridianos 17¼ 30' y los 90¼ de latitud
Sur. Su longitud continental es de aproximadamente 4.200
kms. y 8.000 kms., al considerar la Antártica
Chilena.
Su geografía es intrincada e increíblemente
variada. Por el norte está flanqueado por el
desierto de Atacama -el más árido del
mundo-; al oeste por el gigantesco océano Pacífico;
al este está bordeado por la cordillera de los
Andes, con alturas próximas a los 7.000 m, y
al sur el mar de Drake y la Antártica.
La zona central de Chile presenta un clima templado
mediterráneo, con estación seca en verano,
lluvias entre 340 y 1.200 mm, y temperaturas medias
anuales entre 14 y 15°C, situación que se
presenta sólo en 4 lugares del mundo. En esta
área se ubican los mayores cultivos de vides
y frutales del país y las cuatro ciudades con
más población.
The Chilean territory is located to the South west
of South America, between meridians 17¼ 30' and 90¼
of South latitude. Its continental length is of approximately
4,200 kms. and 8,000 kms., when considering Chilean
Antarctica territory.
Its geography is incredibly varied. By the north is
flanked by Atacama desert; to the west the great Pacific
Ocean; to the east it is bordered by Los Andes, with
heights next to the 7,000 ms, and to the south the sea
of Drake and Antartica.
The central zone of Chile displays a tempered Mediterranean
climate, with dry summer, rains between 340 and 1,200
mm, and average temperatures between 14 and 15°C,
situation that appears only in 4 places around world.
In this area you can find the greatest vineyards and
fruit trees plantations of the country and also the
four most populated cities are located around here.
